Rev. Edward W. Conley, OP, died in New Orleans, on Feb. 9, 2010, at the age of 92. A former English teacher at Fenwick high school from 1944 to 1954, Father Conley then served for 10 years as a member of the Dominican Mission Band. Named pastor of Holy Ghost Church in Hammond, La. in 1964, he returned to Chicago in 1969 as vicar provincial of the Dominican Order. From 1973 to 1979, Father Conley served a prior and associate pastor of St. Dominic Church in New Orleans, La.. He became pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer Church on Aug. 1, 1979. He served as pastor here at St. Vincent's until 1985. He was committed to the continued development of a loving faith community. He was steadfast in his support of parishioners and their endeavors, encouraging of initiative, appreciative, forever available, always approachable. After St. Vincent's, he joined the newly formed Southern Province and continued his Dominican ministry in the New Orleans area.
